From July 15 to 16, co-hosted by FPNU and Shandong Household Service Association, the academic seminar on the modernization of home economics of national colleges and universities and adaptation to social needs was held in the academic lecture hall of the library on Wumashan campus of FPNU. More than 50 people attended the seminar, including President Liao Shenji, Chairman Kong Weidong of Shandong Household Service Association, experts and scholars from more than 20 national colleges and universities and representatives of related household service industries. The opening ceremony was presided over by vice-president Chen Zhiyong.
At the opening ceremony, President delivered a speech on behalf of FPNU. He extended a warm welcome to the arrival of experts and scholars, and briefly introduced the basic situation and characteristics of FPNU, as well as the establishment of Home Economics major. He pointed out that as a university aims to cultivating high-quality application-oriented professionals, technical personnel and vocational education teachers , FPNU actively serves the needs of the country and Fujian Province’s industrial structure and the construction of a modern vocational education system, giving full play to its positioning advantages, and insisting on the concept of taking first steps. Therefore, FPNU integrated resources and took the lead in setting up the Home Economics major among Fujian undergraduate colleges and universities to promote the integrated development of vocational education and general education. It aims to cultivating compound housekeeping service and management talents who master the professional ability of housekeeping education, enterprise operation, housekeeping management and community service and so on to provide strong support for the training of secondary vocational teachers and the development of housekeeping service industry. He said that FPNU will always adhere to the concept of “Large Housekeeping”, focus on building a first-class professional site in Fujian Province and the country, and in accordance with the construction requirements of “Four New Disciplines ” ( new engineering discipline , new medical discipline , new agricultural discipline , new liberal art discipline ) to plan at a high position level, advance at a high standard level and develop at high quality level, give full play to the advantages of multiple disciplines, promote interdisciplinary integration, integrate school education, psychology, food, health care, management, bid data and other discipline resources into the construction and development of Home Economics, and further strengthen the coordination and linkage with government departments and industry enterprises, actively promote the integration of government, industry,education and research to serve the high-quality development of Fujian’s housekeeping industry. He hoped that the participating experts and scholars would fully exchange and discuss, provide advice and suggestions to promote the modernization of the discipline of Home Economics and meet the needs of society and provide more valuable opinions and suggestions for the development of FPNU and the professional construction of Home Economics.
Chairman Kong Weidong expressed that he hopes to take this seminar as an opportunity to encourage all colleges and universities to make full use of national policies to run Home Economics major, and create a new talent cultivating system with scientific and complete contents, precision and practical majors and in line with China’s national conditions to advance vocational education to better serve the dual-cycle development and high-quality development of the Chinese economy.
At the seminar, 7 experts and scholars including Lou Linping, professor and doctoral supervisor of the School of Social Sciences of Nanjing University, respectively made keynote speeches on the topic of “Market Vitality，Training and Platform Reconstruction-Reflections on Several Issues in the Development of Home Economics”,“Integrated Development of Vocational Education and Home Economics Discipline System Construction ”,“Home Economics Discipline Construction and Talent Cultivation-Taking Home Economics Major in Hebei Normal University as an Example ”, “Home Economics Discipline Development of Colleges and Universities Based on the Perspective of “Industry-Professional Coordinated Development ” , to provide suggestions for promoting the construction of the national political science major and had an in-depth exchanges and discussions in terms of the goals of cultivating talents, the construction of curriculum system, the needs and shortcomings of housekeeping industries and so on.
The successful holding of this seminar will not only help to continuously improve the modernization of the construction of Home Economics discipline of national colleges and universities to better serve social needs and the development of the national housekeeping industries but also help to strengthen the exchanges between the school and relevant colleges and universities, industry enterprises thus expand FPNU’s national influence and improve the curriculum provision, the construction of teaching staff and the quality of talent cultivating of Home Economics major.
